OTTAWA - Canada Post has released new Christmas and holiday stamps that will help Canadians make their mail merrier at this special time of year

REGINA – At an event today in Regina, Canada Post unveiled a new commemorative stamp recognizing the accomplishments of Métis leader Harry Daniels. A politician, activist, writer and actor, Daniels dedicated his life to the rights and well-being of Métis and non-status Indians in Canada.

Canada Post is issuing a set of stamps this week to raise awareness about the plight of five whale species that have populations assessed as Endangered by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC).

OTTAWA – Canadians know that the appearance of Christmas and holiday stamps is a signal that the big day is getting closer. Since 1964, Canada Post has encouraged Canadians to make their cards and letters more festive. Once again, we can all make our mail merrier with stamps bearing either sacred or secular holiday imagery.

LUNENBURG, N.S. – Canada Post is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the launch of Bluenose, the Nova Scotian schooner known as the Queen of the North Atlantic, with two new stamps.

Just in time to comfort the winter weary, Canada Post has released its annual flower stamp issue. This year’s offering features the colourful dahlia, a familiar standby for many Canadian gardeners.

Canada Post has released the third set of stamps in its From Far and Wide series. Continuing the theme of the 2018 and 2019 issues, the latest edition presents stamps featuring more of Canada’s most breathtaking vistas, released to transport mail to places near and far — and send one’s sense of wanderlust soaring.

Hanukkah begins on the 25th day of Kislev, the third month of the Jewish calendar year, and lasts for eight days. In 2019, the festival occurs from nightfall on December 22 until nightfall on December 30. Canada Post is issuing this stamp today, well in advance of the celebration, so that Canadians can make their Hanukkah cards and other mail more festive.

Canada Post today issued a stamp marking the 150th anniversary of the Red River Resistance of 1869-70. It was a turbulent time when Métis rights were asserted, leading to negotiations that shaped the creation of Manitoba as a province.

For more than five decades, Canadians have enjoyed the opportunity to dress up their December holiday mail with festive stamps.
